Our emotions are a part of who we are – whether positive or negative, it is important to embrace and accept them for what they are. As we go through life, we are constantly learning to understand and manage our feelings and what keeps us feeling the very best! This is certainly not something that comes overnight and takes a lot of commitment and patience – much like a newly planted seed, we need to give it the time it needs to blossom into the most beautiful version of itself. This journey comes with honesty and by accepting those times that you feel that your emotions are ruling you, think about taking a step back. Remember that you will get to where you need to be and this is simply a sign to invest some of your time-developing strategies and skills to understand yourself better.

What does it mean to be out of touch with your emotions? We are all unique beings and perceive the world in so many different ways! However, as a general discussion point, to be emotionally imbalanced means that we are either not allowing ourselves to fully feel our feelings or in contrast, it also could mean being consumed by our feelings. Aiming for that happy medium aura is what creates and settles the foundations for a positive relationship with ourselves. Accepting ourselves as human beings with a range of emotions is a beautiful concept – we deserve to feel however we feel and the healthiest thing to do is breathe our way through it all.

Here are some wonderful ways to help achieve emotional balance:

Be kind to yourself

We all know how important it is to find some time to practice self-care! Whether it be taking a walk amongst nature or finding the time to read a book in the sunshine, those small moments of pleasure equate to a wholesome version of yourself. We all love that version!

Take some time to reflect

This is particularly orchestrated for those negative moments – instead of letting those emotions take over, take a deep breath and try to understand why you are feeling the way that you are feeling. Although this can be a difficult task, it is worthwhile as it can guide you in the right direction to find that perfect emotional balance.

Mindful moments

Inhale and exhale – breathing is a practice in particular that can support us in finding a peaceful place in the mind to just be. Finding moments in the day to be a little bit mindful will always make a difference in how we manage our emotions. Just a small pause can entirely mould how we will react to situations that arise in our daily lives.
